About

Hello and welcome to our Blog Hunter Gatherer Forager where we will be sharing our families journey to towards self sufficiency.  We have gone from living in Sydneys Inner west in warehouse art collectives to a suburban home in our Hometown of the Blue Mountains to renting a old miners cottage on 2 acres in Oberon central west NSW where we stayed for nearly 3 years to finally moving to Tasmania where we plan to settle to live out our farming dreams.

We have learnt many things on our journey (and never stop learning). We have a huge interest in homesteading and old skills and have been blessed meeting lots of wonderful people who have shared skills, great food and conversation. We have learnt to breed heritage chickens, grow from seed,  make cheese and preserve. We have had many triumphs and many disasters!.

Our Family consists of myself- Anne a 31 year old mumma to a beautiful little girl Nyah and our son Banjo and another on the way.  I am also a Loctician/Preserver/crafter/baker/propagator as well as many other things. I share my Journey with my wonderful partner Dane who has studied Permaculture, Mechanical fitting installed artworks at Bienalles, worked as a farmhand a well as being a great dad, builder, dab hand at chook rangling and milking (cow) and supporting my many endeavors.

We are currently focusing on starting our Homeschooling journey and living in oe of the most beautiful parts of Tasmania the Huon Valley.

Our biggest dream is to own a homestead of our own and I feel we are almost there. There are many dreams within the dream – a micro-dairy, permaculture paradise, Farm gate cafe, market garden to name a few but with our tiny steps we will get where we are going.
