Market Mayhen!

hello my gorgeous friends, family and followers!

We have been busy busy busy here at the homestead! Danes full time work is still going and I find myself with limited free time! We have more chicks hatching another two broodies set and lots of my little seed babies are sprouting.

September is a month of celebration for us and Banjo had his 1st birthday where in true spring style we enjoyed a beehive cake with fondant bees made by Nyah and myself. The cake was a Banana and walnut sweetened with stevia and with Blackberry Jam and honey cream filling plus Honey buttercream icing.

Following shortly was my birthday! Nyah and I made a delicious Coconut Sponge filled with peaches from last summer and cream and a meringue frosting (can you tell I like cake? ) This will be the last year of my 20s and I can’t imagine it getting any better. We truly live a very blessed life and I feel this will be a great year for us!

Recently I ordered some builders plastic and I recovered the green house frames and decided to also cover a old birdcage and covert this into another grow space (photos to come) Hopefully next week I will get some veg seeds going ready to go in the ground after the danger of frost has passed.

This weekend we had our first market at Tarana a lovely little town not far from here. I was so impressed by the Market there was a wonderful array of stalls, A great crowd, live music AND we sold loads which is definitely a big plus! It was almost a disaster I had my pumpkin cinnamon scroll dough prepped and ready to be baked the next morning so they would be very fresh but we ran out of gas!! I instead fried the scrolls in a electric frypan and they turned out lovely! I also made lamington balls and a last minute batch of sweet chilli sauce made from chillies grown by our good friend in the mountains . Next time I think I will add some savory items and hopefully the Kombucha which I wasn’t organized enough to bring this time.

That’s all for now folks hopefully I will get time to add a recipe or two up next week.

Until next time 🙂
